We toured the hospital we plan to give birth at on Saturday, and it seems really nice. It's good to know where everything is in case we need to go in there anytime soon, too. We found out that the labor and delivery floor has free wifi, so we can update people from the hospital! Hehe. The hospital has a Level III NICU, the best kind of NICU there is, so if the babies are preemies, they'll be in good care. There are no specific visitors' hours, so we can have family visit whenever.
Tomorrow we reach 23 weeks! Here's what's going on this week:
Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs over a pound, you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.
I've been feeling the babies move for about two weeks now, and Kirby has been able to feel some kicks and movements, too. I keep trying to catch their kicks on video, but they must be shy - they stop moving the minute I get the camera out!
